The rave scene of the 90s captured in photographs
In 2019 we could see for the first time an exhibition dedicated to the rave scene of the 90s in a gallery in Paris, with all kinds of photographs and objects of the time.
The artist in charge of these photographs, Seana GavinWithout a doubt, he is the perfect person to tell us everything about the free party scene during those years, because he lived it all in first person. Seana says that the first time she attended a rave she felt that she had found her place, with those people who felt the same passion as her for freedom, music and art. It didn't take long for them to become a second family to her.
In fact, when in 1993 the government started to legislate against free parties in the UK, Many of the groups chose to travel around Europe to continue the movement and Seana did not hesitate to join them. They travelled around many European cities in a caravan and the artist kept a diary during the trip and took some photographs, which at that time she was not aware of the documentary importance they would have in the future.
This 2020, Seana publishes his book "Spiralled" in which brings together all kinds of experiences and photographs from 10 years dedicated to the rave scene, from 1993 to 2003.
Here we leave you with the rave scene of the 90s captured in photographs that you can find in his book.

These are just some of the photographs that you will find in "Spiralled", no doubt every time I look at some of the pictures I get a feeling of nostalgia and a certain healthy envy for not having been able to live this incredible experience in the middle of the birth of the whole movement. But well, every era has its own and what is clear is that the free party movement has not died and continues with strength. And to you, what sensations do these photographs transmit to you?
We read you in comments ;P
